Pocket Companion Privacy Policy

App: Pocket Companion
Developer: Happy Dead Designs LLC
Android package: com.happydead.aicompanion

Pocket Companion is a voice-first AI companion for adults: the whole screen becomes its face, and you talk to it. The short version: the AI, your conversations and your voice stay on your phone. We collect nothing. Two optional features use the internet, explained below.

Data collection

• We do not collect, store on a server, sell or share any of your information. There is no account, no sign-in, no ads (ever), no analytics, no tracking and no third-party SDKs that collect data.
• The companion's brain is a small AI model (Qwen2.5) that runs on the phone itself. What you say or type is never sent anywhere.

What stays on your phone

• Your conversations, what the companion remembers about you (only what you tell it), your to-do list and reminders, its settings and any "Report this reply" notes.
• All of it is kept in the app's private storage. Android backup is turned off for this app. Settings has buttons to erase its memory, the history and saved reports; uninstalling the app erases everything.

Microphone and voice

• The microphone listens only after you tap the screen. Your words are turned into text inside the app by its own built-in offline speech recognizer (Vosk), or by your phone's on-device recognizer. Audio is never recorded, saved or sent.
• Replies are spoken with your phone's own offline text-to-speech voices.

Optional features that use the internet

• Weather (off until you turn it on): the town you type is looked up in a table inside the app; only rough map coordinates (about 10 km) are sent to the US National Weather Service (weather.gov).
• The bigger brain (optional): downloaded once from Hugging Face (huggingface.co), which hosts the official Qwen model files. Like any download, that site sees your internet address; nothing about you is sent.

Reports

"Report this reply" hides the reply and saves a note on your phone. If you choose to share it, it goes only where you send it.

Purchases

Pocket Companion is a paid download (the price is set in Google Play). There are no in-app purchases and no subscription. Google Play handles the payment; we never see your payment details.

Age

Pocket Companion is for adults (18+). It is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone.

Not professional advice

The companion is a small AI and can be wrong. It is not a doctor, lawyer, therapist or financial adviser. If you are in crisis in the US, call or text 988.
